stART Festival aktueller Musik
The stART festival was founded in 1999 through the collaboration of various cultural institutions in order to support contemporary music and cross-over art forms. Up until 2005, the core of the festival and concerts incorporated young musicians from the genres of contemporary music and jazz. Exhibited were the connections between the traditional and the modern, between music, theatre, dance, performance and the fine arts.
In October 2007 and spring 2008, two performances that reflected these themes were organised by stART. Conductor and composer Johannes Kalitzke has been the artistic director since 2000. The OENM and ARGE Kulturgelände Salzburg are currently working with stART.
