The IG Komponisten - ISCM Salzburg
ISCM Salzburg is both a showcase of 60 composers (female and male) from the region of Salzburg and part of the Gesellschaft für Neue Musik (Society of Contemporary Music). Active worldwide, it was founded 85 years ago in Salzburg by composers Webern, Berg, Bartók, Hindemith, Strauss, Wellesz and others. Our dual mission: 1. The IG wishes to encourage contact between composers from Austria and abroad as well as the exchange of ideas, works, and new directions taken in contemporary music. 2. Making the creative potential of Salzburg conscious and audible, with the level of audience appreciation that was experienced at the Salzburg Music Festivals in 2002 and 2005. ISCM wishes to incorporate itself into the Salzburg Biennale as an international network that successfully produces contemporary music with imagination and commitment.
